But for sheer visceral thrill, nothing beats the experience of playing poker at its original environment, the casino.

If one is a first-time poker player only beginning to take up the game, there is no better place to start. On entering the casino, one has to approach the front desk to sign up and select the game they wish to play. But one should keep their distance and not look too closely, lest they crowd the players and disturb the game. As always, it never hurts to ask. One must not be afraid to ask for fear of looking like a complete amateur, most especially if this is true. Compare notes with more experienced poker players or ask the dealer for some guidance, just don't be too intrusive in doing so.

There are certain rules of etiquette that are practiced at the poker table. For instance, one should never make a move when it is not their turn, and when it is, one can opt to raise their wager simply by saying "raise." Also, when placing a bet, one should simply place their chips on the table in front of them and not throw them down. Throwing chips is regarded as rude behavior, and certainly makes one appear arrogant.

Discipline should be exercised when playing poker at the casinos. A player should set certain limits both in the time and in the amount of money that they spend in the game. One must exert enough self-control and common sense to know when it is time to stop playing. It is better to quit while one is ahead than to push one's luck further and end up with nothing.

The casino will never be replaced as the foremost arena for the poker game. Beginners should not feel intimidated in entering a casino for their first taste of poker, and they should do well for themselves so long as they observe certain standards and practices one must keep in mind when playing.
